Working with MS Office

Integration with Microsoft Office Applications

Integration with compatible applications such as Microsoft Office 2003 allows team members to do the following:
  • Open, save, and upload multiple files to Document Libraries from Office Applications
  • Link events and synchronize contact information between Windows SharePoint Services and calendar and contacts programs such as Microsoft Outlook
  • Create a Document Workspace site from applications
  • Attach documents to e-mail, spreadsheet, presentation, and word processing programs
  • Enhance spreadsheet and database programs in Datasheet views
Microsoft Exchange Public Folder Integration with a Document Library

You can link a document library to a Public Folder in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server (or later version). When you send an e-mail to a Public Folder, SharePoint automatically inserts the attached document, and the document library displays the document, the "From" address, the subject, and the date/time of the insertion. For example, if you use an XML template to store invoice information, a user can complete the XML invoice and attach it to the e-mail, and the XML file is then available for easy retrieval or roll up into an invoice report.
